my first day on the island | OPEN

After finished registration, Sophie wasn't quite sure what she needed to do. In fact, she experienced the feeling of confusion more often then not these days. She chalked it up to the whole demi-god discovery and called it good most of the time. After all, who wouldn't be confused out of their mind to find out they are a crazy demi-god with potential powers? The worst part was, everyone was running around knowing exactly who they are. They could tell you their mother's or father's name, what sort of god they were, what power they had...Sophie didn't even know she was special until a rather unpleasant encounter with something that one dude called an empousa. Apparently cheerleaders actually were complete bitches. Scaly, nasty bitches.

Sophia let out a deep breathe as she exited the school building and looked around the island from this good vantage point. She hadn't found someplace to live yet, that would be an important step towards normalcy. By something was definitely distracting her at the moment. A large barracks across the city from her location loomed over the valley. She wondered what it looked like inside, what sorts of weapons they had, anything like that. She sat down on a bench to think it over.

Link had just arrived in Concordia. His bags and boxes were taken away to be stored somewhere until he figured out what he was supposed to do. His mother, Venus, had just tossed him and his stuff on the next boat leaving for the island, no one one was expecting him or anything.

He had only found out last night that he was even a Demi-God. His mind was still completely blown by the thought. He stood on the docks, rocking back and forth on his heels. He had already seen more than he wanted to. He had seen people on the ship make fire with their hands or control the winds. He was panicking a little bit.

He took a deep breath. What was he supposed to do now?

Luckily, someone found him looking aimless and got him all registered. Now, he was wandering the island looking for somewhere to be. Something to do. Somewhere to play...

He came upon the school, and noticed a girl looking just as out of place as he did. He approached her and gave a little awkward wave. "Hey there... First day troubles?"

Something in the distance caught Sophia's eye. She sat completely still, staring at the whatever-it-was like her life depended on it. Suddenly an image flashed across her vision. Fire. She shuddered and pulled away from the imaginary heat, suddenly finding that someone was speaking to her. She smiled and nodded, "Yeah, it's pretty crazy here." She commented, sighed and she slouched into the bench and scooted herself over enough to give him space to join her.

In all honestly Link didn't even notice the girl space out for a second, nor did he notice her shudder. He was spacing out himself, about how weird it was to be outside of a school when he hadn't technically gone to school for two years... Link smiled at the girl as she moved to make room on the bench beside her. He took a seat, tapping his fingers like drumsticks absentmindedly on his leg. "So... what's your name? I'm Link," he smiled at the girl, "recently discovered son of Venus. Goddess of love and," he rolled his eyes, "lust."

Sophia smiled, "Lust, huh? Sounds....kinky." She giggled and shook her head, blonde hair swaying freely in the breeze, "You're so lucky..." A heavy sigh escaped the girl as she spaced out again. When she finally realized she was staring at the sun like a complete loon, she looked at him, "I'm Sophia...Sophie...whatever...And only the gods know who my parent is. Apparently I'm what they call unclaimed." She leaned her head back so it was laying against the back of the bench, "Apparently they can know you're a half-whatever without even knowing who you're related to."

He laughed as the girl said it sounded kinky. "More like 'Linky'. Since that's my name," he smiled a giant fake smile as if to mock his own joke. "Link I mean, not Linky," he added. As she described being unclaimed he cocked an eyebrow at her. "Man, that must really suck," he said, sympathy in his tone. A part of him would rather not have known who is mother was, but at least it made sense considering the affect he had on his fans. No, it was good to be claimed. He was sure of that. "I guess the monsters can sniff us out, or something. Like we're tasty treats," he chuckled but rolled his eyes at the thought.

Sophia laughed and shook her head, tilting it to the side in thought, "Yeah, you're tellin' me." She recalled being attacked and it made her shiver. The memory made her head hurt a little. Was there someone with her? Did that happen? No, she couldn't even clearly remember what monster attacked her. Did that even really happen or was it a dream? She shook the thought from her mind and looked at Link, "Link...you look familiar. Do I know you from somewhere?" A playful tune played in her mind as she connected his face to the song, but she wasn't sure why.

Link was happily laughing along with her right up until she said that he looked familiar. He bit his lip a little as an embarrassed flush played across his cheeks. "Have you ever heard of Undercover Karma?," he asked in a slow voice. That was the name of his group, the famous band that he had toured the country with only months ago only to have to ditch them and come somewhere safe. "I'm the Drummer with them. It's a rock band," he never called it a 'boy band' even though they were all males, but they didn't play that N'sync style music. No way.

Sophia narrowed her eyes, trying to place his face. She had seen Undercover Karma in concert once with her sister. At least she thinks she has....why can't she remember actually being there? A warning headaches staved her off from the thought and she nodded, smiling, "Oh right! They make good music! I think I have some songs from the first album on my phone..." She pulled out her cell and started thumbing her way through the thousands of songs there, "No offense, but the most recent album has some major beat issues, like the drummer..." She trailed off, realizing suddenly that she was probably insulting the boy sitting next to her, "...sorry."

"Aaw, that's awesome!" he stated as she said that she had some of their songs on her phone. That made him a little sad too, however, for they had only come out with three albums before he was ripped away from the group. He looked up as she sort of started to insult him and chuckled. "No, no. I can agree with you. Recording that was when my abilities started to get really strong and... I lost focus. My mothers oh-so-wonderful gift of pheromone control seems to like seeping into my music," he groaned and looked up at the sky. Curse that beautiful, lustful mother of his!

Sophia smiled, "I definitely get that." In reality, she didn't even know if she had a power. Unlike the other people on this island, she didn't know her own mother, "Maybe someday I can hear you play." She smiled, "Do you perform on the island someplace?"

At the idea of this pretty girl wanting to hear him play, he blushed a little bit. Hadn't he just explained that his music made people lustful!? Still, it was pretty good music. Well, except for that last album as she so wonderfully pointed out. "Erh, yes! I just got a job at Club Nysa, actually. Haven't played a gig yet," and he was nervous to do so!

Sophia's eyes glittered, "I'll see you there, then?" She didn't want to intrude on his show if he didn't want her there but she was actually really excited to see the drummer of her favorite band play live. She sat on her hands to keep them from shaking with excitement, "You're so lucky to have a job, I'm still trying to decide what I want to do..."

"Yeah! You'll see me there. If you stop by, of course," he tried not to sound excited, but it was nice to know that people here actually knew about his band and recognized him, even if only by band name and not by face. His band was everything to him, and the mention of them made his heart happy while also making him incredibly sad. His band mates didn't even know where he'd gone... "Well, are you studying here at the school?" he asked, gesturing to the building behind them.

Sophia rolled her eyes, "I guess...I don't know what else I would be good at." She shrugged, "But it seems to be a good resting place until I can figure things out." She sat up and leaned toward him, "And of course I will be there! Even if it is only to see you." She winked and giggled, stretching slightly.
