Teresia stared out as the sun was starting to set upon Concordia. The night sky was creeping up behind her, but it was the painting of neon oranges and pinks, pastel purples and blues, the light dusting of clouds in the western sky that she was looking out at. She had received word that tonight she was to meet Mel for something. What she hadn't been told, but she figured as Melanie's underling in this case, that was need to know and Tere, she didn't need to know.
She crossed her arms over her chest, her body clad in a dark tank top and black jeans, her black leather boots hiding some of her smaller weapons. The setting sun was taking its sweet time, and it seemed that Mel was as well. Again though, not something that she figured she had to deal with. So for now, she waited... Waited for Mel, waited for that green flash... Waiting.

Melanie stepped around a building just in time to see Teresia staring out at the ocean. Quietly walking up behind her, Melanie made sure her presence was known before proceeding. "Good evening Captain Sine. Thank you for meeting me." she stated, gesturing to a table outside in the open. It wasn't uncommon for Melanie to choose strange places to meet with an agent, especially one she wasn't used to working with.
"Now, I know we spoke the other day in front of your sister, but I believe it's high time we worked out some of the logistics of your job, and your crew's, as far as the Garrison in general is concerned." The had interacted the other night at the party, but other than that she hadn't seen the pirate since the day they met in the Chancellor's office.

Tere moved to take a seat and nodded to Melanie as she spoke, taking a minute to pull her hair off to one side as the wind attempted to push it in her face, causing some of the beads in her hair to clack quietly together. She leaned in a bit, glancing around for a moment before saying "To tell you the truth, I could really use that right now. I have been checking out things and people but when it comes to this place I'm still a little blank on where my girls and I come in... Unless you have a navel operation I know not of."

"First off, we need to establish rank. It's been causing some waves, so to speak, for some people in regards to your title as Captain. Around the Garrison, don't expect anyone outside of intelligence to call you that. Frankly, don't expect me to call you that around superiors. When it comes to your ship, I will attempt to not tell you how to run things whenever possible, but on land....it's a different story." She knew it would be a touchy subject, but one that needed to be breached. Melanie had no doubt that Tere could acquire whatever rank she eventually aspired to, but for now she was simply attempting to keep Tere out of trouble. "I hope you know that I mean no disrespect. It's hard to acclimate to this sort of work and set up when you've been your own boss for so long."

Tere arched her brow as Mel began to speak, and the first thing that came to her mind was, 'Ahhh so captain numb-nuts is a tattle tell as well...' she was extremely tempted to roll her eyes as well. Instead of saying anything though, she just sat there, letting the woman have her piece. Funny thing is, had he shown her a bit of respect she would have shown him some. That was neither here nor there now though.
"So basically you are telling me that the 7 years of hard work that is running that ship..." She looked towards the port where she could see her ship quite clearly. "Means jack... Right..." She said with a nod and then looked back to her ship. Seven years proving without a shadow of a doubt that she was the main bitch in charge. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair... Perhaps leaving was something she would keep in her sights if she was pointless.
"I never expected you to call me anything in front of any superiors..." she finally said as she looked back at the woman with a far cooler gaze, the gaze she used when she was up against captains that believed they could smash her under their boot heel just because she was a woman and 'women don't belong on ships.'

"It's not so much that it doesn't mean anything in the real world, outside of here. When we're out there, there's no way in Tartarus that I'm going to try to do your job." This wasn't going well. She needed to remind others that she wasn't a carrier pigeon for their messages. It got tiring after a while to deal with irate people when it wasn't even her call. "On island, being a captain would put you at equal rank with myself. It confuses the system and that leads to headaches for everyone involved. It's a simple title change, that's all I've been told to propose."
"Agent Teresia Sine, Captain of the Siren's Song. It's a simple change over Captain Sine. Clears up the logistics and gets the more interesting members of the island back on track." See, this is why she should always be the one to come up with the plans instead of executing them. This was stupid.

Again her brow lifted towards her hairline as Mel spoke about the real world and that there was no way she would attempt her job out on the sea. She knew there were quite a few on this island that couldn't do what she did in seven years of her life. She knew that out there, on the waves, she was queen. Here, she was a lowly peon and that was slowly ticking her off. However, she listened as Mel continued to talk.
She looked back to her ship once more, the rigging blowing in the gentle breeze, the sails - even stowed away against their beams - were ruffling a little. Eventually she looked back to the woman and give a slight nod of her head. "And where I was under the impression that all of the citizens of this island were interesting..." She said coolly but then continued on. "I can deal with the title... but that..." she pointed to the ship at the docks "That is mine, and no one takes that away from me." She said and then added "So was that all that you wanted with me, Captain?"
Had there been some sort of work or was this all? She was starting to lean towards not caring.

"My title isn't captain either. It's either Agent Thorn or Director Thorn, though the latter has been largely discontinued due to a lack of use. I'm a captain equivelant so that everyone knows who is offically allowed to boss me around and who I can have access to without special permissions." Melanie explained. "The Commander has full access at all times with no limits. Colonels Rockefeller and Wyatt are of a similar status. Unless expressly told, assume that they are allowed to know anything as well. The first captains have lesser clearance but are still technically the boss of me and therefore can issue orders to agents. Can I get around them? Occasionally, depending on the circumstances. Most of the time they leave us alone." The spiel was getting old, but all the agents had to hear it at some point. "Captains, on the other hand, have no reign over me. Other agents are private equivelent unless expressly stated otherwise. Those are rare and we don't have any other than myself at this time."
"Keep that in mind and no one will pick any bones. If they have a title, assume that they have the right and the power to give orders." Removing a stack of papers from the bag she had at her side, she placed them on the table. Now that spiel was over, hopefully things would relax. She severely doubted it, because nothing ever went that way, but maybe.

Tere's brow rose for a quick moment as Mel spoke of her rank and of all of those that were above her. The names though, didn't really mean anything to her, because she was still vague on everyone's last names... at least of those that she knew. She sighed softly and glanced back over to her ship for a moment before she looked back to Mel and let her continue on with her talk. Hell, it wasn't like people even wore their 'ranks' on their clothes. Perhaps they should look into doing that if they want people to get on their knees and kiss their backsides.
Taking a breath, Tere just kept her mouth shut and then eyed the stack of papers that Mel was placing on the table before them. Again her brow arched, but she was deciding that it seemed talking was just going to upset people further so not to say anything at all. She would just give a nod of her head to say she understood but wait to see what else the woman had to say, if anything.

"Now then. With the disclaimer over as sanctioned by the commanding forces that be, I bring good news." Melanie said with a slightly mischievous smile. Yes, she had been ordered to speak to Tere, but hey, it was over with now and they could move on to real work. "These are the papers I've been waiting on before speaking to you. They took a little while to finish, but it has been done." Several papers had pictures of Tere's girls, their official files as were on record for the Garrison. "Your girls, and yourself, have been cleared to work special ops for the Garrison under the supervision of the Intelligence Department." Sliding them across the table, she leaned back slightly before continuing.
"I also have the special permissions for you to have more leave of the island. You still need to check in and let me know, but unless I have work for you, you now have the basic permission of the powers that be to do come and go as long as we can contact you." It had taken a considerable amount of petitioning and paperwork, but she had made it happen. The Commander still wasn't sure about the arrangement, but it was sound in her mind.

Tere took a look at the papers and then nodded softly for a moment before glancing up at the woman "Well that is a good thing to know. I have been itching to get back at sea. Actually..." She stopped herself from saying something and took a sigh "I take it that these are for me then? Or are these for you and you were just letting me see them?" She asked looking between the girl and the papers... if they were for Tere and her crew then she would more than likely just give each of the girls their papers for them to do as they wished. At least now though, if Tere felt like just getting away for a bit - not that anyone would notice - she could.

"They are for your records, and for you to look over. Make sure that nothing inaccurate was recorded during interviews. I don't need them back until that time." Moving some of the stack around, Melanie produced a map. It was new and unmarked, but the one underneath it was not. That poor thing had been through some wear and tear, just like any good tool. "This, is your first Garrison sanctioned job. Whenever your ready to leave, we would like for you to tour this area." Melanie gestured, using her fingertips to demonstrate her point. "If you look at this map here, we have points made for evacuating agents from the mainland to the island. In an emergency, we would need for you to meet agents at these points, pick them up, and then bring them back to the island as fast as possible. This is our emergency recall procedure." If she thought about it, they would run a drill soon. The agents hated it, but the song was faster than she shipping barge that most agents used. It would get the job done faster.
"What we want from you, is to drop off supplies at each of these locations and then scout for better drop off spots. Your the one who will be picking them up, so we want your feedback. Mark some locations and we'll see about slowly switching them. It'll be a process, but it'll be worth it." safer drop offs, safer agents, happy Melanie. It was really that simple.

She nodded to Mel, just listening to what it was she had to say as she gathered up the papers and then glanced over to the map. That is when she really closed in her concentration. If there was one thing that the girl knew, it was maps and charts... especially when they had to do with coastal towns and the likes. She let her eyes travel over the spots and then was beginning to already spot other places on the map that would look like better points. However, a map was one thing, seeing it in real life would tell her what she was thinking.
"I can do that, is there a set deadline or do you just want me to make sure everyone gets everything they need, and people get where they need to as soon as reasonably possible?" The Song could go faster, but that would take all of the girls working together. That way they could direct the winds and storms. That was another thing, she could use storms to her advantage.

"No. These supplies are just to replace ones that have been used in emergencies. Weapons, cash, armor, other items we need in the field. It isn't anything that has to be there at a set time." Most of the time they ignored the nooks and cranies they stowed things in, but in a pinch...there was nothing better. "It just needs to be done sometime within the next month if you want the drop offs changed. We'll be pulling any non-essential people in for meetings at that time, so that's when we would do it. If not, it'll take longer so that no one gets confused or stranded."
"I've also been asked to go with you at some point, even if it's just for a run around the island. Mostly to see how things work so that the higher ups know what to expect should they be on board. I won't be using the Song often, as I have my own means of transportation that require much less effort on everyone's part." At that, Melanie smiled. Shadow travel was definitely a convenience. "Whenever you have the opportunity, let me know. I'll probably be off island again soon, but I can be back whenever necessary unless I'm in the middle of something."

Tere gave another nod to let Mel understand that she understood and was glad to know that the things she would be dropping off would not be a time sensitive matter. She gave another look to the maps and let her fingers brush over the worn one. There was something about worn maps that was almost reassuring to her, but right now, her touch was getting a feel of the latitude and longitude lines, the directions that she would follow. Then she would take the maps and pull them closer to her for a moment. "I will compare these to my current maps of the currents, make sure the places I am already contemplating will be good."
Then she looked up to Mel, she nodded again "As for you needing to take a ride on the Song, you are welcome to join us at any time. I am planning to invite my sister aboard sort of as a surprise Bachelorette party, if you think you'd like to join, you'd be welcome. Otherwise, you need only let me know when you are free and I will go about preparing the Song for a small trip around the island."
