So far, Concordia was great. She could use a cell phone without worrying about some freaky girl with a creepy. bubbly personality growing fangs and wings and trying to rip her face off, she could tell people about her power without fear of judgement (for the most part), and she was just generally happier. It was a truly freeing experience to know that she wasn't the only magical freak in the world with a strange family history.
At this exact moment, though, Rowen was in need to an escape. Spending too muchtime in a city full of people who had suffered tremendous loss could be exhausting and, despite the fact that Rowen was determined to help as many people as possible, she wasn't able to keep up with the sheer number of spiritual requests that came in every day. That is what brought the blond to the fields even though it was dinner time and she was starving. With the sun setting low over the horizon, there were no farmers or field workers out. She was completely alone and the silence was perfect. She could still feel Kalan sitting at her right, staying with her always.
There were many times that Ro had considered trying to send Kalan on. He was her brother and the first (and only) person she had ever trusted completely. Even though she knew it was wrong, Rowen selfishly kept him around. He was silent now, but she had known his for so long that she could tell what he was thinking about. He always thought that she needed a true, living friend. He swore that when he thought she would be taken care of, he would be able to leave her behind with confidence. Every passing day, Ro could tell that the moment was drawing nearer, and she was petrified.
Lost in the thoughts, Rowen sucked in a deep breath and reached her arms up to stretch. She was laid across a grassy slope under a blossoming pear tree covered in beautiful white flowers that smelled like her grandmother, who she had only met one before. She closed her eyes and found herself in danger of drifting to sleep under the stars.

To say that he was exhausted would be one thing, to say he expected to see someone in the fields as the sun was setting would be the furthest thing from the truth. It had been a hard day and they all usually gathered together for dinner to make sure everyone was doing alright as they were still every vigilant that an attack could come. Dante always found himself making rounds at this time to make sure that everyone was alright and that they knew everything would be alright. It wasn't as if he thought he would make them feel better himself, but, it never hurt to try and see if they needed anything while he was there.
Dante stood off to the side a little just watching the woman as she stretched and he smiled a little, if he remembered correctly from the reports she was one of the newer additions to the island and so she must have wanted a little alone time, maybe he shouldn't really approach though if she turned just enough she would see him standing there and it might not be a good thing to come across as a potential stalker. That definitely wouldn't be any good. Taking a few strides towards her he called out, "I don't mean to interrupt but I just wanted to see if you were doing alright, your new here aren't you."
Carefully he allowed his eyes to take in her appearance and he would be lying if he said she was anything but gorgeous. Though that was neither here not there, he was a First Captain and had to act as such. There would be no appearance of impropriety, he would simply be here to answer any questions or concerns she had.

Kalan poked her and, even though she could not physically touch spiritual bodies, she felt the tingly cool feeling of his touch. It was like a light breeze or a cold puff of air. She had become used to it over the years, which helped her not jump when he pointed at the person approaching her. It was probably the only reason she didn't jump out of her skin when he started talking.
He was taller than her by nearly a foot and looked so....clean. Okay, so maybe clean wasn't exactly the word she would use. But he definitely seemed to be the strong, silent type, which was fine by her. A dazzling smile graced her face as she sat up and smiled at him, "Oh not at all." Rowen said sweetly, ignoring Kalan's taunting laughs about her voice shaking. She was nervous! No need to be a butt. She swung her arm out in a stretching motion that happened to place her hand right in Kalan's face.
Finally, she motioned at the ground next to her, "You're welcome to join me." Her voice was steadier now, than it had been only a moment ago. This made her smile again as she tilted her head to the side, "I promise I won't bite."

"Oh not at all." The woman said sweetly, and she stretched her arm for a moment. Dante stood transfixed there was something about her that seemed so unique and interesting, he wanted to learn more about her. Finally, she motioned at the ground next to her, "You're welcome to join me." she smiled again as she tilted her head to the side, "I promise I won't bite.". He smiled at that, he was right there was something about her that was different from everyone else here. He sat down opposite her so he could see her clearly.
Rolling his shoulders he heard a soft pop letting him know that a little tension had been released he responded to her seriously, "Who's to say I don't want you to bite? It could make things interesting." he tried to hold on to the calm and collected face but soon he broke into a smile and soft laughter, it took a moment for him to settle down but he kept the smile on his face, "I'm sorry, for a first introduction that was impolite. My name is Gregory but everyone here uses my middle name, Dante. Who do I have the pleasure of sharing this sunset with?"

She arched and brow at him and ignored Kalan laughing at her side. He waved goodbye and shimmered from view behind a tree. She knew it was him telling her it was okay, which made her feel a little bit better about the fact that the time for him to leave her was drawing near. Rowen looked up at the new man, though, and laughed, "Well aren't you just the perfect gentleman?" She teased, patting the ground next to her lightly and smiling, "Maybe we just start with a conversation, hot shot."
The sun was completely down now, which meant the city was crawling with lost souls and ghosts with unfinished business. It wasn't that Rowen didn't love being the island's personal Jennifer Love-Hewitt, but she needed a break. Unfortunately, even from here she could tell that they were closing in. She wouldn't have much time before the ghosts found one of the only people that can actually see them, "So what brings you out to the middle of nowhere?" She inquired casually, laying back down on the ground to admire the stars.

Well aren't you just a perfect gentleman? She patted the ground next to her, adding a smile and so he moved closer to her as she added, "Maybe we just start with a conversation, hot shot. He smiled at her, he was no where near a hotshot and yet even though she wanted to clarify him as a hot shot almost made him feel unique. Though he knew it wasn't really a good trait to have he had to smile at it. As he thought about smiles he couldn't help at how kind hers seemed, even on a first meeting.
She seemed to be lost in thought for a while and then she asked, "So what brings you out to the middle of nowhere?" His smile broadened at that, to him this wasn't really nowhere. It was a place to reflect on the day and also pass the time thinking about his family off the island and how he wished he could return to them, someday. She laid down on the grass looking up at the stars and he took a moment to see the way she took in the stars. He finally answered, "Well it really isn't the middle of nowhere, but I usually walk around here to reflect and relax while at the same time patrolling the area to see if any of the new residents need someone to talk to, you're not the first to have thought this a great area to get away from it all." Turning to look at the stars as well he then added, "As long as that what you were doing out here, i could just be way off base."

Narrowing her eyes, Rowen watched him join her on the ground and smiled again, "Yeah. Getting away..." She could feel the darkness pressing down on her, like every spirit on the island was searching for someone to speak for them, which of course she knew they were. After a moment she rolled on to her side and looked at the man with interesting, "So what were you trying to get away from, huh?" She inquired.
Suddenly, Rowe realized that the answer might be deeply personal. After all, her answer was. She frowned a little bit and shrugged, "By the way, I'm Rowen. I am new here, but you probably knew that, didn't you?"

Smiling at her he lightly took her hand and kissed the back of it, "It is a pleasure to meet you Rowen, my name is Gregory, though many use my middle name Dante. I knew of you yes, to be honest I hadn't looked at my briefing containing the pictures of all the new arrivals just yet, just skimmed the names." His smile softened a little as he thought about her question, what was he trying to get away from. "I wouldn't say I am getting away from anything here, rather coming to safely think about my family back home. Are you alright? You seem a little...tense." He could just be reading to deeply into the situation but as the sky shifted to a dusk.
"So I return the question though, what or who are you trying to get away from?" He smiled at her, finding himself interested in knowing if she was with anyone. He never before was really that interested but there was something about Rowen that just drew him to her..

Rowen raised her eyebrows and looked back at the sky, not really reacting to him holding her hand, or kissing it for that matter. She saw a shimmer hovering over the grass about twenty feet away and rolled her eyes, "Would it be too morbid if I said I see dead people?" She asked, making a face of distaste, "And that they can tell when people can see them." A tall, gauche girl appeared next to Rowen crying. She was hugging her knees to her chest and sobbing like her cat had just died or something.
"Normally I don't mind talking to them and helping them out, but sometimes the buzz can get overwhelming." She sucked in a deep breath and turned to look at the girl next to her, "Like this girl..." Rowen said sadly, "What's your name?"

Rowen rolled her eyes and asked if it would be morbid to say she saw dead people, he shook his head. Everyone had their own gifts and talents, it took a very unique person to not only possess her gift but to live with what it entailed. He let her continue telling him about her gift and how it could overwhelm her that was something he had little doubt about. She then turned to look at something, or rather someone beside her, "Like this girl..." Rowen said sadly, "What's your name?" he slowly rubbed his thumb over her hand as she began speaking to the girl. He wasn't sure how long it was but when Rowen finished he brought her hand to his lips once more letting it hang there a moment longer than he planned while he thought about what to say.
Once he moved her hand away from his lips he smiled softly in the faint light, "You are compassionate and your heart is so pure. I don't know many people who could have a gift like yours and have such poise and grace about them. I fear this island might be a lot to handle, many people lost loved ones five years ago." He once more was rubbing her hand though he didn't really notice he was doing it.
