WORDCOUNT | 322 TAG | @open NOTES | BREAKIN IN THE NEWBIE | The entire point of becoming a Healer was so that Tylar could make sure people didn't die from terrible war wounds. She hadn't gone into the position with the intention that her actions were going to change someone's life or teach them anything, per say. At least nothing like this.
Yet here she was, looking at her trainer like they were crazy as they explained to her that one of the jobs of the Healers is to teach the sex ed class. So all they are really saying is that the school is too cheap to hire a sex ed teacher of their own so they are going to ruin Ty's life instead.
She was leaning against the lockers in the hallway waiting to be invited inside the classroom. Her superior had ditched her with all the fun and left for the day, making it all the more awkward for the Concordia newbie. She hadn't even been an official Healer for a week before they had her prancing around in from of students with condoms and bananas. It was absolutely ridiculous.
Or course, no one knew her either. Which made answering questions at the end of her little speech that much more awkward. Right when she finished showing the demi-gods how to use protection, they wanted to know her whole life story.
Finally, a teacher appeared at the door she'd been waiting next to. It was a pretty girl. Like really pretty. Almost overwhelmingly so. Must be one of those romance girls...
Tylar entered the room and gave her spiel. It was terribly awkward and she hated every stuttering moment. And now she was standing there, after answering a ton of questions and releasing the students, at the front of the classroom staring out the window. There were only a few other people left in the room at this point, and she was really hoping they would leave without talking to her.

Pan was not looking forward to any sort of health class. He was clearly in good shape and didn't need an education. So what if he ate pizza for basically every meal? He ate ice cream too! See? Variety. But no, he was required to take the stupid thing. He walked in to todays class with his usually smug smile, sitting back in a desk on the second row and putting his feet on top of it.
This. Was. The. Worst. Lesson. Ever. The entire time Pan tried to zone out, but it was literally impossible! He pulled his feet down under the desk and started to shrink on the inside. However, he tried to outwardly give the impression that this was stuff he knew all about and heard about erryday. Like it didn't bother him one bit. As his classmates asked questions, he zoned out. When the classroom was finally dismissed, Pan was on of the last ones to realize that the people were leaving. He stood, and suddenly he was the last person in the room. He almost left, but he caught a look in the girls eyes. He mentally slapped himself and turned back to face her. "Hey, I know that was probably a hard lesson to teach. Tough break," he said with a funny sideways smile.

WORDCOUNT | 242 TAG | @pan NOTES | BREAKIN IN THE NEWBIE | Tylar prayed to whatever god was listening that the last kid would leave quickly so she could run away from the school and pretend that the day had never happened. No such luck.
Tylar looked at the boy. Ah. The one from the second row who looked like he would have rather sat on a barbeque grill than sit in her lesson. Not that she could really blame him. It was probably going to make the top 10 worst days of her life after she went home and really thought about it. But she obviously wasn't going to let the boy believe that she had been uncomfortable.
Tylar shrugged as if his statement was mundane, "It really wasn't too big a deal." She mumbled, pulling her box of contraceptive off the counter and holding them in her arms as if to communicate that she was wanting to leave the room, "I hope you learned something." She winked for good measure.
Tylar looked around the room to check that she had everything and groaned when she noticed her drink still sitting on the teacher's desk. She dropped the box heavily to the floor and picked up the soft drink, smiling that the ice was still completely frozen even after her seven hour day in the classroom. She took a quick sip and smiled proudly to herself. It was perfect, not watered down at all. There were some perks to being a complete freak.

At her shrug, Pan raised an eyebrow at her, interested. Somebody who was that non-chalant about sex ed most likely wasn't a virgin and the thought of talking to someone who wasn't a virgin, at least who he thought he knew wasn't one, sort of made him a little woozy. He took a step back toward the door when she winked. "Uh... well, thanks?" he said in a slow voice. He should really make a break for it now. He could not deal with girls winking at him any more. But he had talked to her, hadn't he? What in the heck had Abcde done to him!? It was her fault. She was trying to make him more comfortable around girls. He mentally noted that he would chastise her for this later. His stomach lurched a little at the thought of seeing her, which he promptly ignored.
"So, you like warm soda?" he asked, obviously guessing that the drink in her hand was completely disgusting now due to the sun. But she drank it anyway, which was weird. He almost took a step closer, but he decided not to. Better to stay away from winking girls.

WORDCOUNT | 301 TAG | @pan NOTES | LOL I LOVE TYLAR, SHE'S A BOSS | She could tell easily that he was uncomfortable, not that if really mattered to her. She couldn't tell if he was uncomfortable because of the super awkward lesson she had just taught even though she really didn't have much personal experience, or if he just didn't like her. Either way, she wasn't sure she cared that much.
Okay, that was kind of a lie. She didn't completely disregard what other people thought of her. In fact, she wanted people to have a good opinion of her unless that were complete asshole, then she was more than willing to drop them like a rock and not bother to think twice about it. She didn't know him super well, but she was thinking this guy wasn't a complete asshole. He seemed more like a dumb teenage boy than an asshole.
When he asked her about her drink, she didn't even open her mouth to respond. Instead she popped the lid off the cup and showed him the still frozen ice. With a smile, she pushed the lid back on in a circular motion and looked down at the box she had thrown to the floor while on a mission to get her drink, "Damn it." she groaned, noticing that the box had fallen on it's side and spilled the contents all over the floor. Nothing was more awkward than spilling hundreds of condoms all over the floor in the middle of a high school classroom. Tylar dropped to her knees and started to pick them up gingerly, pinching them between two fingers by the edges to avoid actually touching anything. It didn't take long for Tylar to look up from her spot on the floor and motion to the mess, "A gentleman would help, you know." She said, raising her eyebrows in expectation. |

Pan leaned forward as she showed him the contents of the cup. The ice was still completely frozen. His jaw dropped and he looked back up at her, "What... Khione?" he tried to guess where these powers could have come from. Keeping ice cold. But the soda wouldn't be fresh anymore either... did she like the taste of flat soda, too? But it still looked carbonated.
The spell of his awe broke when she noticed the box behind her had spilled. He was still frozen on the spot for a moment before she called him out on not helping, "What? Oh." he bent down and began helping her gather the ... uh... things on the floor. He tried his hardest not to think about how awkward this really was. "At least you'll never run out," he tried to joke, but his face felt hot after saying it.

As Tylar knelt on the floor, she squinted her eyes in thought before looking at him again, “Who is Khione?” She knew it was probably a stupid question but she was only just recently introduced to this world and didn’t know much else about the other gods, just her own mother. She shook her head, dirty blonde hair sway in its place on top of her head, “My mother is Hebe.” With his awkward comment about never running out still running through her thoughts, Tylar spun around and looked from something, anything to help them. She mostly looked behind her to avoid her red face from being too obvious to the guy. Finally, she found a green folder and tilted the box on its side, careful not to spill any of the contents. She promptly began using the folder to push the little bits of rubber back into the box without looking at them. This was the weirdest way to meet someone ever.

"Khione she's, a Goddess of snow," he explained slowly. She went on to explain who her parent was. At the word Hebe Pan dropped the handful of the things in his hand. Hebe, the Goddess of youth. He was frozen as she turned away and grabbed the green folder. His eyes met hers for a brief moment and he said, softly, "I'm Pan." His heart was going a million miles a minute. If she could do that too food and drink... what could she do with people? His greed started to tingle in his fingertips at the thought.

Tylar sucked in an angry breath when he dropped the few condoms he had bothered to pick up back on the floor. She shook her head and reached over, scooping them up and quickly dropping them into her box, "Pan? What kind of name is that? It can't be your real name, can it?" She asked, trying to keep herself from laughing in case it was his real name, "I'm Tylar." She added, realizing that it would be rude to not at least return the favor. Tylar put her hands over the box, palms facing down into the contents, and stretched her muscles tight. A small light began to glow from her palm causing the condoms inside the box to stop moving. She had frozen the cells inside the box long enough that maybe she could dispose of the box back at the hospital before they were movable again. It sure would help with any potential mess. With that, she pulled herself off the floor and straightened out her shirt, making sure to grab her drink this time.

"Uh, what?" she was suddenly angry with him and making fun of his name. What was with girls, anyway? Why did he even bother talking to them? "Tylar. Tylars a boys name," he said, trying to counteract her comments about his name like the oh-so-mature teenager that he was.
He stood as she did, looking back at the door, then back at her. "So, the Goddess of youth huh? What's that like?" he tried to sound as casual as possible, even though his body was probably visibly tense.

Narrowing her eyes, Tylar shook her head, "At least I'm not named after an angsty pre-teen who kidnaps little boys so he won't be lonely anymore." She shot back, thinking to herself that it was a pretty rude response. She didn't mean to sounds so...well...mean, but something about him was rubbing her the wrong way. She shook it off, thinking that there was no way someone so...childish...could possibly be as horrible as she was imagining, "...Sorry..." She murmured, looking down at her hands.
"Ehh..." Tylar shrugged at his question, "I don't really know how to describe it, I guess." She started, "I mean, the power isn't super useful for Healing like every thinks it might be and the one time I actually met Hebe she was like half my age. So awkward." With a laugh she shift the box from one side tot he other, starting to feel the weight in her shoulders, "I guess the only cool think is the whole potential for immortality thing." She laughed, shrugging again and finally lowering the box onto a table so she wouldn't have to continue carrying it, "Apparently Hebe's kids are some of the only Demi-Gods that are so lucky." Tylar wasn't sure just how lucky she actually thought she was, but she had to admit it was cool.

At the hit on his namesake Pan widened his eyes. This girl had some good back talk which, if he wasn't so shocked that she had just said that, he would be proud of her for. When she apologized he shrugged, "hey, no big. I like to think of it as being named after someone who values friendship and youth," he said in a bored tone.
Then she stated to answer what it was like to have youth for a mother. "Oh, wow. That is weird," he responded with a shocked face as she talked about the way that her mother was half her age when they had met. Pan hadn't met his mom, apparently she liked to be a constellation most of the time. She sounded pretty cool but... eh, not as cool as the Goddess of youth. At the word immortality Pans jaw dropped down to the floor, figuratively of course. "Uuuh," his heart stopped for a moment.
What had Abcde said about girls? Play it cool? Be yourself? Pan suddenly flipped his bangs out of his face with a quick little whip of his head and a smug look crossed his face. "I'm sure immortality would be pretty cool. Have you uh... looked into it?" he smiled at what was his attempt as a flirtatious smile.

It hit her like a ton of bricks. She was silent for a moment while she digested what she had just realized. She cared on some level what he had thought of her. She wasn’t sure if it was because she thought he was cute or if it had to do with the fact that he had been the first person she had spoken to besides her co-workers since coming to the island. It was the first time she had had an actual conversation and she had insulted his name twice and thought only negative things about him. What kind of terrible girl was she anyway?
Tylar ran her fingers through her light brown and to try and smooth out some knot that wasn’t actually there. She suddenly found herself nervous, like she was being watched by someone important or someone who could kick her off the island for not at least kind of being tolerant. She nodded a little in response to his question, “Of course.” She laughed a little, “How could I not have looked into it? It’s easy enough to actually do. I can even do it for other people, if I like them well enough.” Whoops. She hadn’t meant to tell anyone that. There was something seductive about the idea of immortality. Damn it. She was so shaken by this conversation she had shared something she had meant to be a deep, dark secret. Tylar’s face burned red as she looked down at her hands again. Her fingers were hooked over the edge of her box, crushing the cardboard under white knuckles.

"I can even do it for other people, if I like them well enough."
Pans heart stopped as she said these words. Now what was he going to do? She was a girl. Girls were sparkly and flighty and gross-but she had what he wanted. She had his biggest dream in the palm of her hand. He couldn't just ignore that! All he ever wanted was to remain young or die trying. He was not going to get old. Never. He would never grow up even if he had to die to achieve that. But... did he have to?
A million thoughts ran through his mind in a split second. How could he get her to give him such a gift? Did it have to be replenished often? Would he have to spend his entire life by her side? Could he possibly do that? Pan didn't notice that his own hands were clenching until his eyes fell upon the way she was grabbing at the box. He had to act now. "Is that heavy?" he asked, reaching out to take the box from her, careful not to touch her skin. He didn't want her to feel like he was coming on too strongly.
This was going to be a process.

She had to admit, she was kind of surprised. She thought he would ask he for immortality, or beg her for the answer to life or something. That is what her foster mother said would happen. But he didn't. He just asked to carry the box for her. She couldn't help but smile a little bit, "Oh, okay." She said, handing the box over without hesitation, "Are you going to follow me all the way back to the hospital?" She asked, laughing a little bit as she exited the classroom, finally.
