Just Hold Your Breath [Tere]

Links eyes widened and he's cheeks blushed excessively at her words about wearing less. He followed her toward the door to the pool. It was quite amazing, actually! "Wow, this is a nice place. I don't have swimming trunks with me, but I wouldn't mind sitting down for a bit," he didn't look at her, still embarrassed by her last comment, as he made his way to one of the lounging chairs and sat down. This felt like home to him, really. He was used to a life of luxury.

He chuckled. "You know, I used to have a house a lot like this," he started.

Tere smiled softly as she noticed his blush but nodded to him as she moved along the pool and then sat down on the edge of it, dipping one leg into the water as the other was tucked under her. She looked at him as he sat down and smiled a little more. "With family? Or did you own it all your own?" She asked as she kicked the one leg that was in the pool back and forth. "I do love this place... because family is here, but I have others like it. Mostly in the Caribbean. You can say I love to bring my ancestors with me wherever I go." She said as she looked around at the house that she had built for her family.

"With my dad. He was a Rock Star, see," he explained with a bit of an embarrassed laugh. "Yeah, the house really speaks to the water kids, for sure. My house wasn't as fantastical, but it was just as big with a pool to match. It was in L.A." he spoke wistfully, missing the place he used to hang out with his friends and throw fun after parties. Link was never a rotten teenager, but was quite a model kid considering his industry. "I miss it. I miss my dad. My friends came by all the time, so they basically lived there too it seemed."

Tere smiled, looking around at her house, was it fantastical? I guess in a way... To her it was just... Home. She licked her lips again and looked back to link with a light smile, "Well, you are welcome to come hang here any time you want. I know I'm far older than you, but I built this place for friends and family to enjoy together, and you are to sweet not to just adore like a little brother, even if you aren't of the same parent." She said with a little wink. "Plus, I think being around my girls will help you with that shyness of yours. She teased.

He smiled at her offer, but lost it when she mentioned the 'girls' helping him overcome his shyness. His eyes widened. "Oh dear, you make it sound like there are a lot of them! How many are there?" he asked, incredibly embarrassed already at the idea of being surrounded by a bunch of pretty girls. He liked the compliment about him being like a sweet, adorable little brother, though. He never had any siblings... it would be nice to have someone care for him in that way.

She laughed softly and shook her head, an amused smile on her face and a playful gleam in her eyes. "Oh, just 8 others not counting myself, but if it makes you feel better, most of them don't often leave the ship." She said and then she glanced to the pool for a moment and then as she looked back, she splashed some water at him. "Dont worry, they don't bite... Well Coal may... But she's... Complicated." She said with a light giggle.

Eight!? Wow. Link couldn't handle being in a room with that many women at once. He shook his head and bit his lip nervously. "Aw, the ship. Let's focus on that," he said, decided not to comment on Coal... for the moment. Scary women biting people. Eek! "What's it called? How long have you had it? The deets," he said, turning on the chair to face her and prop his head up on his elbow.

She laughed softly as she nodded to him, he was just too precious. She had to fight the urge to stand up and walk over to him just to pinch his cheeks. His questions about her ship made her smile then laugh out as he asked for the 'deets'. She leaned back, her arms bracing her up behind her. "Well, she's called The Siren's Song and I've had her since I was 17. She a gift from my father, totally unsinkable - unlike that monstrosity Titanic." She said with a soft laugh. "She's a force to be reckoned with when we really get her going."

"That's a beautiful name! Wow, you must be really proud of her," Link concluded as she talked about the ship and it's features. The Titanic was a sad story, but he was glad they could at least get a little laugh out of it now! Especially since the Song sounded much more advanced and exciting. "So, what made you decide to stick around?" he asked, hoping he wasn't getting too personal and in her space.

Tere smiled softly and nodded "Yes it is, I wish I could take credit for the name, but that was her name when Father gave her to me. You know, it's bad luck to rename a ship." She said and then glanced down at the pool. There were a lot of superstitions surrounding the sea and seafaring, the only one that she laughed at was the 'no women on board' one.

With his next question, she was pulled out of her thoughts and smiled to him. "Family." That was it really, the only thing holding her to this island. Well that and the possible relationship she was cultivating with a certain son of Demeter.

"Well, at least she had a great name when you got her then. It would suck of you were stuck with a super lame one," Link noted. He felt like musicians should feel that way too, about changing their band name. So many of them did it and yet so many of them who did failed. Link thought it was unfair to your fans and your music to change your name all the time.

When she gave her reason for staying on Concordia, Link nodded and have an understanding smile. He hadn't met many from his family, but it was a nice thing to have. "That's great," he nodded.

Tere gave a nod to him "Indeed, I like to pretend that is why it took so long for my father to give it to me." she said with a small smirk before she glanced over towards the horizon. "When it comes to my family though, even though I choose to stay for them, I'm starting to think they don't need me around. They have their own lives... You know?" She said in a soft voice, different from her usual confidence.

Link nodded, "I understand that. My father and I were close for a time but... he was really wrapped up in himself," and in doing all the cliches that ex rock stars did. Drugs, partying, dating younger women, flirting with Links friends, leaving for weeks at a time, etc. It was a mess, really. But he didn't want to burden her with that. Not just yet, anyway. "It's hard when people have so much going on and you kind of disappear, in a way," he added.

Tere gave a slight nod for a moment before she sighed a little and glanced over to the horizon again. That was the part of her that would always want to go and just be at sea, because at sea, she was in control of things. Here. she really wasn't. With another soft breath, she turned her eyes on the young man and smiled to him. "So what else are you willing to tell me about yourself?" She asked, lifting one foot out of the water and wrapping her arms around her leg so that she could rest her chin on her knee.

As the subject changed, Link found himself a little grateful. Still, he didn't really know if he wanted to talk about his life, either. But, this woman had really helped him out, so there was no harm in doing the favor of telling her about himself, right? "Well... there isn't much to know. My dad was a rock star, so was I, I lived in the road, easy to escape monsters that way... did I tell you about how I was brought here?" he asked.
