Ember Lynn opened her mouth to respond but was almost immediately interrupted by the long chorus of Royals by Lorde. She groaned and thumped her head against his shoulder, "No, no, no." She pouted, reaching into her purse that Dylan had set on the floor last night, "Chancellor Hadley." She said in a professionally chipper voice that completely contradicted her facial expression. Something like that could only be perfected after three years of hardcore practice, "Mmhmm." She said, widening her eyes at Dylan as she nodded along to the fast voice of one of her Senators, "Oh no..." Suddenly her perfect morning was ruined. A wildfire had claimed a small portion of the crop last night and it was assumed this would cause a problem with their overall haul, "Why wasn't I contacted?" She said forcefully, turning and making her way back into the bedroom without saying anything to Dylan.
She started to slip into her dress from yesterday as she put the phone on speaker and listened to the myriad of excuses pouring from the boy, "I understand that you are sorry, but that doesn't change the fact that you haven't effected the export quota for the entire island. I am always to be contacts when fire occur. You know I can put them out quickly enough to safe the vegetation..." She was fully dressed in minutes and carried the phone back into the living room, "Fine, fine. I'm on my way. Don't move." She slammed her thumb against the screen and tossed the phone onto the couch with a heavy sigh.

Dylan watched Ember Lynn deal with the morning's crisis in thoughtful silence. It would do neither of them any good for him to speak up right now, as whatever was going on seemed to be very important and she looked less than amused. Whatever small issues they had to work out now would need to be left until later, much later by the look on her face when she walked back in to the room. He had over heard most of her conversation, the loud noise reverberating through the rest of the house. Ember Lynn needed to go do her duty to the people, and Dylan understood that.
"Go Em, I'll be here when you get back. It sounds like they need you out there, otherwise they'll burn the rest of the island down." He stated, walking over to where she stood to give her a small hug and a peck on the cheek before backing away to let her leave.

Sighing, Ember Lynn returned the kiss and gave him a sad smile, lingering in the doorway for a moment just to take in his image. She suddenly reached into her bag and pulled out a key, "Here. I've had this for you for as long as I can remember." She laughed, "If you wanted to see the color blue I was talking about." She pursed her lips and turned to the door, "I have to go. I love you." She waved over her shoulder as she ran out the door and out into the ocean, which propelled her back to her office faster than walking ever would have. She was definitely going to like living here.
